Route 66 Day Three

By Mark

Chicago

We get up quite early so we have as much time as possible to explorer this city. We go for breakfast in a bakery down the road and have a scrambled egg muffin, this takes about 30 minutes to be prepared and we are both not impressed.

First stop of the day is the Sears Tower and the sky deck on floor 103, unfortunately the sky deck is closed but you can still go up to floor 99, which to be honest will give the same view. If I am being honest the main reason I wanted to go to the Sears Tower is to recreate the scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when they are looking at the ground below with their heads pressed against the glass. The problem was on floor 99 you could not do this as there was a guard rail.

After we came back down from the tower we walked over to Millennium park where we looked at the sculptures and purchased one of those City explorers bus tickets that allow you to jump on and off whenever you want.

Using this service we went to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile and finally Union Station.

We finished the day off at Giodano’s Pizza before heading back to the hotel.
